Ice Windsurfing Demos at Keswick

From TWC to Gold Fleet RS:X Worlds

TWC member, David Hayes (20), is one of five Canadians currently competing in the RS:X World Championships in Weymouth England. Videos and results at http://www.theresults.org/earth/rsxworlds/center.jsp# http://http://www.theresults.org/earth/rsxworlds/center.jsp

How did a kid from Toronto who enjoyed playing hockey, skateboarding and hanging out with friends end up racing Gold Fleet (top half of the competitors) at the Worlds? When he was about kid's camp age, he began competing in the TWC weekly races and the Mammoth. He kept trying to get closer to the other TWC racers so he could figure out what they were doing to beat him. TWC racers make it easy to figure out by sharing their secrets. While international competitors don't share their secrets as easily, they do share a passion for windsurfing, enjoy good times together and help each other out. How else could Dave get his gear around when he?s away from the family car? After the Worlds, Dave will be back at Queen?s University where he is studying engineering. He is looking forward to competing in TWC's 27th Mammoth Marathon race.

New for 8-12 year olds "Windsurfer in Training Program" - Sundays 12-2pm

Please call Tom Mae 647 267-2401 to arrange an orientation time and day with a volunteer instructor (dependant on availability). Parents and their children participating in this program must sign in and out with the CYA Instructor each session.

Practice is self administered by families that have had their orientation. You need to register/pay, check in and out with the onduty windsurf instructor. Families participating in this grassroots program are responsible for rigging/unrigging. launching and putting thei gear away. They must sail within the "Windsurfer in Training" sailing area, which is same as for the LTW program, defined approx. by the white buoy in front of the club and west to the "point" between TWC and Cherry beach lifeguard station. (There is a map on the LTW trailer door.)

Mandatory PFD Wear Survey CSBC Safe Boating Awareness - "Wear It!" Ontario Sailing is a member of the Canadian Safe Boating Council (CSBC) and works with Transport Canada, the Recreational Boating Advisory Council (RBAC), and the Canadian Marine Advisory Council (CMAC) on behalf of its members.
The CSBC PFD Task Force created a "Best Practices" position as follows:

"The CSBC believes that all operators of all sizes and types of kayaks, canoes and self propelled vessels and all types of other craft that are 6 metres or less in length, while passengers are on deck and while the boat is underway, should wear lifejackets or PFDs."

Lifejackets and PFDs come in many various styles and types and some of these include inflatable PFDs.
Please go to our Mandatory PFD Wear Survey and take a moment to answer whether or not you agree with the above statement.

Thank you!
